The Literate Cat
Today’s Blog Spotlight: “The Literate Cat” with Lucinda and Fran
Blogging can be very personal. Sometimes you read the most touching real life stories. Other times you ‘meet’ fellow bloggers who tug on your heart strings and you become nearly instant friends. It is my solid belief that we are better when we work together. If we work with one another instead of against, how much more can we accomplish?
This new series, “Blog Spotlight” will be all about sharing with you the blogs that I’ve discovered and the special people behind them. Today’s spotlight is on “The Literate Cat.”
Fran lovingly and sort of jokingly refers to herself as the “cantankerous cat lady.” She believes our cats are our family, just as we do here. It’s one of the many reasons I love what she’s about and wish to introduce you to her today.
A Brilliant Writer
One of the things I love most about visiting her site is the way she writes. A true talent in the art of telling stories, she will grab you from the beginning and keep your attention the entire time. You will feel as if you were there, experiencing the moment with her.
Having spent decades of her life with cats as constant companions, she writes effortlessly and affectionately about the furchildren she has been “owned by.” 😀 You will laugh, you will smile and you will enjoy.
Fran is also a published author. I was incredibly blessed when she gifted me one of her books entitled “The Chronicles of Carlos Castaneda Kitty-Cat Kelso.” Whether you are cat crazed or not, you will enjoy this book!
This easy read is such an irresistible tale of a special kitty and his human (Cat-Kin). You will probably laugh, cry and relate to so many of the words on these pages.
One of the funniest aspects of this book are the “catscripts.” These are additional inserts from the mind of Carlos. He was a brilliant thinker, that one!
Here’s an excerpt from one of Carlos’ catscripts:
“I couldn’t understand why my companion went to so much trouble to put a door my size in the bottom of her big door if she wanted to decide when I could go out and when I could come in. It’s my door – it seems to me I should be able to use it whenever I wish.”

Within its 113 pages, you will discover the most endearing stories that will surely warm your heart and leave you thoroughly entertained. If you’ve never been to Alaska – now’s your chance to discover the Alaskan wild – through the adventures of deeply beloved Carlos & Fran. ♥
Lucinda Can Read & Write!
Lucinda, the literate cat, is quite special! Currently the “CCL” (cantankerous cat lady) has hired her to write book reviews on the blog. Remarkable really!
If you are a fellow bookworm, I think you’ll find her reviews to be impressive.
In all sincerity, the way Fran has created this website is unique. When it comes to cats, she not only adores them, but knows them well.
The Literate Cat offers informational articles, fun facts, reviews, product recommendations, gift ideas and so much more!

Thank you so much 🤗 And I wholeheartedly agree!
We are better when we work together! But sometimes that’s like herding cats 😁
😂 You are telling the truth! Thanks for the laugh this morning.
You’re very welcome 😝😁
What a lovely thing to do for another author and blogger. You rock, Holly.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
Aw, thank you Sandee! You rock more! 😀
Hope your day is wonderful as well my friend ♥
Look like fun books. Real kitty writing and cat-like typing can be hilarious, and quite troublesome.
They really are fun. She has done a great job writing from the perspective of Carlos 🙂 I totally agree with you Tim – it is very hard to pull of feline speak – but when it is done well, it’s funny! (I think 3 Chatty Cats does a great job of that as well)
Thanks for stopping in. You always leave great comments about the feline fun in your household 😀
You’re awesome for featuring other bloggers, Holly! 😊❤️🌺
Aw! Thank you Winnie 🌹

Isn’t that a great photo of the kitty reading? Cracked me up when I found it 🙂 Leave it to our cats to do everything better than we do, lol. 😀

Such a lovely story… I’ll be sure to check out the author’s site. I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, Holly – although I just noticed you already have one! Bestest wishes always, my friend 😻 https://eilidhhorder.com/2019/10/02/versatile-blogger-award/
Such a lovely picture and purrfect review too, Holly😸Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞
I love hearing this from a feline viewpoint, how the cat sees the cat door as a gift, a sign of consideration. It gives the cat independence, so she doesn’t have to rely on a human to open the door for her whenever she wants to go outside.
I live first floor, ground level, so I just keep the shutters open. My four cats go out whenever they want. They just have to leap.
Wow. That’s fascinating about living on the first floor and keeping the shutters open for them. What a sweet idea!
So nice to hear from you! 🤗 Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! ♥
I love that you do this for other bloggers! 🙂
Hi Jennifer! You are so precious. Thank you! We bloggers know how much investment our blogs are, don’t we? It’s a LOT of heart, time and work that goes into them. Feeling appreciated & recognized for each of those can give us the encouragement we need to keep going on tough days!
I can’t even count how many times I wanted to quit, throw in the towel when someone came along and commented such lovely words that I had the courage to keep going. I am betting you can relate! We can never underestimate the power of our encouragement for someone else.
I hope you will join us at Wholeness Haven too, my other blog. I love how you love Jesus! ♥ Thank you for being you!
You just put the biggest smile on my face. Yep, I absolutely have experienced the same. Especially when I was starting. God actually graciously gave me a dream that was a very clear message from Him to keep going, at that point. But truly, encouraging words from other bloggers have helped SO much along the way. What is the link to your other blog?
I adore hearing that Abba gave you the very dream you needed to keep going with your blog. Isn’t it amazing how He will send those signs to us when we genuinely need them? This life and its questions can be overwhelming sometimes. For our personality type, we doubt ourselves terribly too which makes the need for God’s reassuring guidance all the more powerful.
My other blog is Wholeness Haven: https://wholenesshaven.com – I hope to see you there. I’m grateful to have ‘met you.’ Abba always knows what we need, when we need it. Praying you & yours are well this day.
I’m already so excited, just beginning to look at it! Connecting with you definitely feels like a Kingdom-originated setup. Thank You Daddy God!
Amen, I agree! I genuinely look forward to getting to know you better!
🙂 <3 🙂 <3
I left a couple comments, just wanted to make sure you got them? Also, I LOVED the post He Knows Your Name, but couldn’t find a place to comment on that one. May have been because of it being my first visit. All my love to you, dear!
Hi Jennifer! Thankfully, technology was on our side this time and I did receive your beautiful comments. I’m so grateful I did! You’ve made my day…
Aw! So glad you loved that post on Wholeness Haven! I’m not sure, but try scrolling down to the bottom where the last comment is and see if the comments box is there? I hope so! I’ll look forward to hearing from you soon! 🤗 Let me know if it’s not showing on your end.
Sometimes my jungle Internet connection presents those extra challenges. But I will persevere, as your posts are well worth it! <3 🙂
Holly, just came across your post about my literate cat, Lucinda, and me. What wonderful things you have said about us! I do appreciate your comments a great deal. Now I will have to visit your site more often…shame on me for not doing so sooner!
It’s always good to connect with others who love our furry family members a great deal. I still miss my Carlos, but am now managed very nicely by a gorgeous cat named Mocha. He knows he’s gorgeous, too, and it seems to go along with his “cattitude.” He is a funny one! A “hello” to all the fellow cat folk who visit your pages…may they continue to enjoy the cat community.
Thank you so much for carrying forth the love!
